Florida State Makes Abrupt Coaching Change

Florida State made an abrupt coaching change this week.

The Seminoles have brought on Auburn assistant Marcus Woodson to fill the void left behind by TJ Rushing, who left for Texas A&M.

“I did accept it,” Woodson said of the offer to Noles247.

“We got everything worked out yesterday. I will be coming to Tallahassee soon.”

Woodson and Mike Norvell previously worked together at Memphis.

Under Woodson’s direction, the defense forced 60 turnovers and 32 picks. The Tigers’ turnovers total was the second highest in the country in 2016.

Prior to linking up with Norvell, Woodson coached at Fresno State, Charleston Southern and Millsaps.

Last year, Auburn boasted one of the top secondaries in the nation. Overall, the team ranked No. 8 in the country in yards per pass allowed.

An official announcement from Florida State regarding the hire is expected at some point in the next 24 hours.
