Quarterback Ian Book announced this week that he would be entering the 2021 NFL Draft.
After enjoying immense success at the collegiate level and guiding the Fighting Irish to a College Football Playoff game, the young prospect has now set his sights on the pro ranks.

“Just arrived in Jacksonville to begin my new journey, preparing for the Senior Bowl,” he wrote on social media.
“As I sit here and reflect, a few things come to mind. I will always carry Notre Dame with me, today and every day moving forward. None of this would be possible with Coach Kelly, Coach Rees and the entire football and medical staff,” he continued.
“I am eternally grateful for the faith and trust you had in me. I also want to express my deep gratitude to Father Jenkins, Mr. Swarbrick, and to each of my professors who were so instrumental to my development.
“My teammates and I will always be connected by the unbreakable bond that comes with wearing that gold helmet, competing, and representing Notre Dame. My family has been my rock, without your whole hearted support there’s no way I would be in this position today.
“Finally, to the entire extended Irish family, I will forever be humbled and grateful for all the love and support you gave me. It will never be forgotten. So, it’s not goodbye, it’s just until next time!”
Book ended his senior year by throwing for 2,830 yards with 15 scores and three picks. He finished his Notre Dame career with a 30-5 record as a starter.
As things currently stand, Book figures to either be a late-round pick or go undrafted. Of course, as has been shown on multiple occasions over the years, that sort of start to one’s career doesn’t preclude them from becoming a big NFL star down the line.
