The Clemson vs LSU winner is clear, say experts.
With the National Title game just around the corner, prognosticators are beginning to make their picks.
Both Clemson and LSU have a lot going for them heading into the big game.
For Clemson, this is an opportunity to solidify the program’s legacy once and for all. Back-to-back titles and a third championship in four years would cement Dabo Swinney as all-time great.
Along the same lines, LSU and quarterback Joe Burrow have been making history all season long. After beating Auburn, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma, Ed Orgeron’s group looks absolutely unstoppable.
Recently, Sports News college football insider Bill Bender offered his pick for how this outing would go.
According to Bender, he has LSU emerging with a 38-31 win.
“I thought last year’s quarterback matchup between Tua Tagovailoa and Trevor Lawrence would make for the best national title game ever — I was a year off,” he wrote.
“This year, we get the next two No. 1 picks in the NFL Draft in Lawrence and SN Player of the Year Joe Burrow, and they will put on a show that resembles the first two Playoff shootouts between Alabama and Clemson.
“Don’t underestimate Clemson in this spot: They’re good enough to win. But in the end, Burrow leads the late-game heroics in a game that picks up scoring in the second half.
“LSU and Burrow go down in history as one of the greatest SEC teams of all time. Lawrence and Clemson will have to wait until the next run.”
Who will come out with the victory? We should get our answer once and for all come January 13.
