College Football World Responds To Dabo Swinney’s Florida State Comments

Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney raised eyebrows this weekend when he took an unprompted shot at Florida State.

A showdown between Clemson and Florida State was cancelled this past Saturday after the latter program expressed discomfort with the fact that someone who had tested positive for COVID had traveled to Tallahassee, Florida, with Clemson.

On Sunday, Swinney came out guns blazing and accused Florida State of ducking his team.

“This game was not canceled because of COVID,” he said.

“To me, the Florida State administration forfeited the game. If they wanna play Clemson, in my opinion, they need to come to Clemson, or they need to pay for all expenses. Other than that, there’s no reason for us to play them. We were there. We were ready. And we met the standards.”

According to Swinney, the trip cost Clemson more than $300,000.

Needless to say, the college football community had some strong reactions to Swinney’s sentiments.

All that being said, Swinney has never been one to care about the public’s opinion of him, and it’s doubtful he is going to start now.
