A Los Angeles Clippers star found himself embroiled in controversy this week when his girlfriend appeared to call him out on social media.
Robert Covington is a seasoned NBA veteran who has been around the league for nearly a decade. Earlier this year he signed a two-year, $24 million contract that will keep him in L.A. for the foreseeable future.
By any objective measure, he should be flying high.
Unfortunately, Covington’s purported girlfriend Amirah Dyme took to Instagram recently to make some pretty salacious allegations.
According to SideAction, Amirah has posted a series of posts as of late that paint a very specific picture:
“I’ll forever choose love,” one of her messages read.
“But sometimes choosing love also means going to war. For your rights and your principles. I’m never going to be a part of the circus. And nobody will ever turn me into a clown. I see everything and I won’t tolerate ANY more.
“I owe it to my child to speak up and I owe it to myself to let real love win. Sometimes you don’t know what happened to you until you say it out loud. This is going to shock a lot of people but I’m done being quiet.”

Given the amount of eyeballs she deals with regularly, she couldn’t have been too shocked by the attention her posts captured.
Overall this has been a tough year for NBA players on the alleged infidelity front. Between Eddy Curry breaking down in detail the specifics of how guys cheat on their spouses to the cheating rumors LeBron James had to publicly fend off – it has been one thing after another.
It kind of makes you wonder why an ESPN host would even agree to marry an NBA player nowadays.

In any case, one way or another, the truth regarding what Covington did or did not do will likely emerge in the foreseeable future.
And when it does, hopefully all the parties involved ultimately get the justice they deserve.
