Cleveland Browns Poaching Star From Minnesota Vikings

The Cleveland Browns are poaching a star from the Minnesota Vikings.

Having already hired away former Vikings coordinator Kevin Stefanski to be their new head coach, Cleveland now has its sights set on Minnesota vice president George Paton.

According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Paton is currently the leading candidate to be the Browns’ next general manager.

“Source says Vikings VP George Paton is expected to officially meet with the Browns in Cleveland later this week,” he wrote on Twitter.

“He’s clearly become a prime candidate.”

The Vikings are consistently regarded as one of the most well-run franchises in pro football, so poaching one of their front office execs would be a huge win for the dysfunctional Browns.

Paton is widely respected among people in the NFL.

Last year, Cleveland went 6-10 and missed the postseason. That prompted management to hit the reset button – ultimately firing both former head coach Freddie Kitchens and former general manager John Dorsey.

It remains to be seen if filling the Browns organization with former members of the Vikings will ultimately produce the sort of results ownership clearly thinks it will.
