Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney Has Surprising Take On Tua

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had a surprising take on Tua Tagovailoa this week.

Tagovailoa announced last week that he was going to turn pro and entering this year’s NFL Draft. This has led to many speculating about where precisely he will go and how highly he will be selected.

During a recent media session in the lead-up to Monday’s title game, Swinney was asked for his take on Tagovailoa.

Swinney did not even hesitate. He repeatedly expressed that he had nothing but he utmost admiration Tagovailoa and everything the youngster had achieved thus far in his career.

“From a talent standpoint, he’s awesome. If I was in the NFL, I’d be taking Tua because he’s a winner and he’s a very savvy, smart, instinctive player,” Swinney said.

“He’ll heal up and get well, and he’ll make a great player for somebody.”

Swinney and Tagovailoa faced off against one another in last year’s championship game. The former came out victorious, but clearly not without earning an immense amount of respect for the latter in the process.

During his time with the Crimson Tide Tagovailoa recorded 7,442 passing yards and 87 scores.
