Chiefs Giving Patrick Mahomes Crazy New Contract

The Chiefs are giving Patrick Mahomes a crazy new contract.

Mahomes has only been a starter in Kansas City for two years, but in that time he has quickly established himself as one of the NFL’s great talents.

As such, it is no surprise that the Chiefs want to lock him up for the long term.

Mahomes is eligible for a new deal extension this summer, and the contract offer he is inevitably going to get is going to be record-setting.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Mahomes and Kansas City are currently working on what has been described as a “mammoth” deal.

This deal will result in Mahomes becoming the league’s highest paid player.

Not quarterback. Player.

Presently, the highest paid player in the NFL is Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wilson, a Super Bowl champ, signed a four-year, $140 million this past offseason. Of that total, more than $100 million is guaranteed.

Last year, Mahomes played at an MVP-level and recorded 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns. In the process, he led Kansas City to the AFC Championship Game.

This season, Mahomes dealt with some injuries that lessened his personal totals. That said, he still finished the regular season with 11 victories and fewer interception than last year.

For his career, Mahomes is 24-7 and has recorded 9,412 yards, 76 scores and 18 picks.
