Chicago White Sox Are Signing Edwin Encarnacion

The Chicago White Sox are signing Edwin Encarnacion, that much is clear.

Fresh off bringing in Dallas Keuchel, Chicago appears to have its sights set on another familiar name.

Encarnacion, 36, will be 37 by the time next season begins. Despite that, the White Sox appear to be impressed with his 2019 campaign and believe he would be a positive addition to the roster.

Last year, Encarnacion hit .244 with 34 home runs and 86 RBIs while splitting his time between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees.

If not for a fractured wrist that he sustained in August, those numbers probably would have been even better.

Presumably the White Sox will slot Encarnacion in as a designated hitter as they slowly prepare Zack Collins to eventually take over in the role.
