Chargers, Raiders Frontrunner In Tom Brady Sweepstakes

The Chargers and Raiders are the frontrunners in the Tom Brady sweepstakes.

Heading into this summer, Brady is an unrestricted free agent. For the first time in two decades, he has the opportunity to sign with a team other than the New England Patriots.

While there is still a chance he returns to the organization with which he won four championships, the odds seem to be decreasing by the day.

Most insiders seem to agree that if Brady really did want to return to New England, he likely would have signaled it by now. His total ambivalence towards the Patriots is telling.

According to ESPN NFL insider Mike Reiss, Las Vegas and Los Angeles are expected to “make a play” for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

“The Raiders, who are moving from Oakland to Las Vegas, are ready to put all their chips in the middle of the table for Brady,” he said.

“The Chargers, who announced Monday that Philip Rivers won’t be back, are another possibility, potentially pitting AFC West rivals in a competition for Brady.”

According to recent odds released by Sports Betting Dime, the Raiders are listed at +300 to sign Brady, followed by the Chargers at +400, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +700 and then the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboy at +900 apiece.

NFL Free Agency is set to kick off on March 18, and at that point things will likely really start to pop off. Brady’s decision will likely be the first domino to fall. From there, Rivers, Drew Brees, Jamieis Winston and multiple other quarterbacks will likely find out what their futures hold.
