Chaka Khan Singing Anthem At All-Star Game Goes Viral
Chaka Khan singing the anthem at the NBA All-Star Game went viral this weekend.
Khan was brought on board in 2020 following an interesting performance from Fergie two years earlier.
The Fergie showing was panned from coast to coast, with some players openly laughing during the proceedings.
This time around, Khan’s performance was met with less backlash – but some backlash nevertheless.
“Wait, someone sat through a soundcheck of this National Anthem and still allowed it to go on?” sports reporter Darren Rovell tweeted out.

Rovell was not the only person to have that sort of visceral response to Khan’s version of the Star Spangled Banner.
Based on the responses that Fergie and Khan have gotten, it is becoming apparent that singing the National Anthem in the NBA All-Star Game is becoming one of the more critiqued gigs in all of pro sports.
Who will the NBA be able to get next season in 2021? Time will tell.
