Carolina Panthers Star Abruptly Retires

A Carolina Panthers star abruptly retired this week.

Star linebacker Luke Kuechly announced on Tuesday night that he was hanging up his cleats.

The news came as a shock to many in the NFL community, as Kuechly is still just 28 years old.

In an announcement posted to social media, a clearly emotional Kuechly revealed that he still loves the game, but had to make this decision.

Kuechly is a seven-time Pro Bowler, five-time First Team All-Pro pick and inarguably one of the best linebackers in league history.

Losing him will be a huge blow for a Panthers organization that was already facing a lot of uncertainty.

Earlier this week Carolina announced the hiring of former Baylor coach Matt Rhule as its new head coach.

Now Rhule will have a lot of questions to answer on the defensive side of the ball, along with the offensive side.

Rhule and new offensive coordinator Joe Brady will need to determine what direction the team goes in at quarterback, with Cam Newton, Kyle Allen and Will Grier all coming with their fair share of strengths and weaknesses.
