Broncos Running Back Responds To Melvin Gordon Signing

A Denver Broncos running back responded to Melvin Gordon getting signed by his organization.

Phillip Lindsey has rushed for more than 1000 yards in each of his first two years in the pros. That did not dissuade Denver from getting Gordon, though.

This week, Lindsey reacted to the decision.

“Melvin’s not my enemy,’’ Lindsay said.

“He’s my teammate. He needs to do his job but best believe I’m going to do my job.’’

For what is worth, though, Lindsey does not plan on just handing over his starting gig.

“When camp comes around it’s going to be a battle,’’ Lindsay said. “I’m not just going to sit there and give somebody the job. They can. But I’m going to go out there and I’m going to battle.

“I’ve heard this stuff my whole entire life. And it’s never ever panned out how everybody has wanted it to pan out. Until someone proves me wrong, I’m going to continue to do what I do.”

Gordon recorded less than four yards per carry in four of his first five years.
