Braves Players Still Very Angry at Ronald Acuna Jr.

Atlanta Braves players are still very angry at Ronald Acuna Jr. after his lackadaisical run to first in the seventh inning of Thursday’s game.

Acuna, an All-Star outfielder, stepped up to the plate for Game 1 of his team’s NL postseason game against the St. Louis Cardinals and hit a booming shot off reliever John Brebbia.

Rather than scramble down the line and turn the shot into a double, as most others would have done, Acuna opted to jog slowly to first – ultimately ending up with just a single.

Players on the Braves bench were visibly outraged over their teammate’s lack of hustle.

“Yeah, it’s frustrating,” Freddie Freeman said after the game.

“But I think you have that conversation once.

“It’s kind of beating a dead horse after that if you keep having the same conversation over and over again,” he continued.

“You have to know that was a mistake.”

Acuna went on to hit a two-run home run off Carlos Martinez in the final inning, but it was not enough.

Atlanta fell to St. Louis 7-6 and now trail 0-1 in the best-of-five series.
