Brandon Ingram Is Heading To New York Knicks

Brandon Ingram is heading to the New York Knicks, probably.

Ingram, 22, is having the best season of his young career with the New Orleans Pelicans.

So far this year Ingram is averaging 24.6 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists per game on 49% shooting.

Coming into this summer Ingram is a restricted free agent, meaning if the Pelicans want him they could probably retain him.

But given all the young talent this team needs to pay over the next few years, they will likely start having to pick and choose who stays and who goes.

This makes even more sense when you consider the fact that, despite arguably being the NBA’s Most Improved Player this year, Ingram’s impressive stats have done little to lift the team out of the basement of the Western Conference.

As such, it would not be particularly shocking to see New Orleans let Ingram walk to a max deal from the Knicks.

Would New York give Ingram a max deal?

According to Greg Schwartz of Bleacher Report, the move would make a lot of sense.

“[T]he Knicks should throw a max contract at New Orleans Pelicans restricted free agent Brandon Ingram,” Swartz wrote.

“The 22-year-old forward and Barrett could develop into a deadly offensive wing combo should the Pelicans choose not to match the elevated salary.”

Will New York ultimately pull the trigger on Ingram? It remains to be seen. Does it sound like something the Knicks would do? Absolutely.

  1. This is a GOOD Article and that’s EXACTLY what the Knicks NEED ro do. Tomorrow is the 15th of Dec. so they should trade Morris, Payton, Bullock for D’Angelo Rusell and then at the end of the season give Ingram his Max contract. They’ll have Russell, Barrett, Ingram, Randle, and Mitch starting. Get a strong 2 way bench as well and they got themselves a contender.
