Boston Red Sox Fire Alex Cora

The Boston Red Sox fired Alex Cora on Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement made on the official team Twitter account, Boston revealed that a final decision had been made on its manager.

One day earlier MLB commissioner Rob Manfred implicated Cora in a wide-reaching Houston Astros cheating scandal from 2017.

At the time, Cora served as Houston’s bench coach.

According to multiple reports, he then went on to bring a similar rule-breaking system to Boston in 2018 in his first official season as manager.

While the league announced how it was disciplining the Astros earlier in the week, no official punishment for Cora has been revealed yet.

A ruling on his fate is pending another league-wide investigation into possible cheating by the Red Sox.

Most baseball analysts believe that Cora’s punishment will be far harsher than the one-year penalty received by former Astros manager A.J. Hinch.
