Bill Self Gets Brutally Honest About Kansas Fight

Bill Self got brutally honest about the Kansas fight that took place on Tuesday night.

Speaking to reporters after the fact, Self acknowledged that his team behaved poorly in the incident.

“It happened in handicapped seating,” he said.

“If you’re going to do something, at least take it on the court or whatever. It’s ridiculous that they would go into the stands.”

Self went on to call what transpired an “embarrassment.”

“This doesn’t have anything to do with competition,” he continued.

“Those were selfish motives on why that took place at the end.”

In the closing seconds of the Jayhawks’ dominant victory over Kansas State, Silvio DeSousa attempted to bring the ball up the court when it was stolen from him.

The Kansas State player tried to lay the ball up, only to have it blocked from behind.

A melee erupted shortly thereafter.

The lasting image from the brawl was De Sousa grabbing a chair and looking like he was going to swing it at someone. Fortunately, the chair was taken out of his hands before he could do that.

Kansas ended up emerging from the outing with a 81-60 victory, but clearly nobody felt like a winner coming out of Tuesday night.

Suspensions on both sides will likely be announced at some point within the next 24 to 48 hours.
