Barstool Fans Mock Kirk Minihane Fans For Attending Event

Barstool fans mocked Kirk Minihane fans this week for attending what was essentially a Barstool Sports event.

Although Minihane operates under the Barstool Sports umbrella is and one of the brand’s more successful personalities, a large portion of the company’s fans seem to disown the Boston radio host and his unique subsection of dedicated Minifans.

This past week, Minihane held an event not unlike the many events Dave Portnoy and other Barstool personalities have held at various locations where fans could attend and watch them in-person. For some reason, however, Minihane’s efforts were ridiculed and his fan base was mocked.

It started all the way at the top, with Portnoy referring to Minihane’s fan base as a cult.

The jokes continued in Portnoy’s Twitter replies.

The same general attitude was found on the Barstool Reddit account.

While dedicated followings belonging to any sports media personalities are objectively funny, there is something of a ‘pot calling the kettle black’ situation when Portnoy’s group of loyalists think they are some how better or more sophisticated than Minihane.

The two groups are the embodiment of the ‘pointing Spiderman’ meme, with one of them just also happening to be extremely smug and self-righteous about it.

It will be interesting to see if Minihane ultimately continues with Barstool Sports once his deal is up, or if he opts to go his own way and take his dedicated following with him.
