Antonio Gates Reacts To Chargers Signing Tom Brady

Antonio Gates reacted to the Chargers potentially signing Tom Brady this week.

Gates, arguably the best pure talent in the team’s history, wholeheartedly endorsed a potential move by Brady from the New England Patriots to Los Angeles.

Brady spent the entirety of his career in New England and won six championships there, but has reportedly been growing increasingly frustrated there.

Between issues surrounding his proposed pay for next season, a perceived lack of talent on the Patriots roster, and a desire to begin setting up for his post-NFL career, there appear to be a lot of reasons why Brady would want to make a change.

As an unrestricted free agent, there is nothing New England can do to stop him at this stage.

For months, the Chargers have been rumored to be Brady’s preferred destination should the future Hall of Famer opt to leave the Patriots.

Recently, TMZ caught up with Gates and pressed him on how he would feel about Brady coming to LA.

“If he comes here, I’m going to be a big fan,” he said to TMZ.

“I heard that he might come out here and bless us with his presence, so it’d be a great sight to see.”

Gates’ endorsement is obviously a pretty big one. A lifelong Charger, he recorded 955 catches, 11,841 yards and 116 scores with the franchise. When it is all said and done, much like Brady, Gates will certainly be enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
