Are the Los Angeles Angels preparing to sign Trevor Bauer? Things appear to be trending in that direction.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Angels are “determined to add a top of the rotation starter. Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer is the obvious option, and the LA/UCLA product may relish a homecoming. The top trade options may be Sonny Gray and Blake Snell; the list of No. 1 guys is short.”

Last year the Angels’ team ERA of 5.09 ranked 25th in the majors. The team’s top three starters, Dylan Bundy, Andrew Heaney and Griffin Channing, are fine – but nothing exceptional.
Bauer led the NL with a 1.73 ERA and 0.795 WHIP across 73 innings and 11 starts over the course of 2020′s 60-game season. He struck out 100 batters and led the majors in hits per nine innings at 5.1.
By any objective measure, he would provide a massive boost to an Angels group that has not had a winning record since 2015.
Will the Angels ultimately land the starter they clearly so desperately need right now?
Time will tell.
