Alabama, Nick Saban Lose Another Key Star
Alabama and Nick Saban lost another key star this week.
Saban’s longtime assistant, Burton Burns, has agreed to leave the Crimson Tide to become the new running backs coach for the New York Giants.
Burns was known for working with some of the greatest running backs in Alabama history.
Everyone from Derrick Henry to Mark Ingram had nothing but great things to say about their experiences with the veteran coach.
When news of Burns joining Judge’s coaching staff broke, Ingram immediately sent out a congratulatory message on social media.
Burton Burns had told people close to him for a while that he eventually wanted to get back to coaching.
Now, he’ll get that opportunity with the Giants and will lead a group that includes one of the NFL’s top young players, Saquon Barkley. https://t.co/5WhAx66449

“Best coach I ever had!! Saquon Barkley you blessed with this one young bull,” Ingram tweeted.
Barkley is coming off an injury-riddled sophomore year, but into a situation where he will have Jason Garrett as his team’s offensive coordinator and Burns as his running backs coach.
Given the pedigree of both men, an improvement as it pertains to the running game seems imminent for the Giants.
Last year, New York finished with a 4-12 overall record, good for third in the NFC East before the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
This is obviously a huge blow for Alabama given the sort of track record Burns had, but if anyone can find a way to work through it, it’s obviously Saban.
