Adrian Wojnarowski Drops Woj Bomb On Victor Wembanyama

Victor Wembanyama is the hottest young basketball prospect in the world right now.

With his entry into the 2023 NBA Draft looming, franchises are scrambling to position themselves in a way that will ensure maximum exposure to possibly landing him.

Wembanyama’s incredible showing against American opponents this past week only raised his stock further.

On Wednesday, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski provided clarity on what precisely awaits Wembanyama.

“Multiple top basketball executives told ESPN of conversations on Wednesday with their own ownership groups that expressed a better understanding of the transformational value of drafting Wembanyama — and the steps, some painful, it would take to give their teams the best odds at drafting him,” he wrote.

This in turn will have massive ramifications for all NBA teams – not just the bottom-dwellers who have a chance at landing the first pick in the lottery.

“There won’t only be a race to the bottom, but an opportunity for playoff and championship contenders to have more impactful players available to acquire in deals,” Wojnarowski continued.

“Executives believe that could include more players available far sooner than the February trade deadline.”

It’s easy to see why so much hype exists. Wembanyama is clearly special. His 37-point explosion on Tuesday night against the Ignite left quite the impression.

As did his confession after the fact about what his height truly is.

Wembanyama will have a massive impact on the NBA in more ways than one over the next several years. Both the team that lands him and the ones that don’t have to account for him and his influence.

What sort of “race to the bottom” will we see in the NBA this year for Wembanyama? What stars will become available as teams scramble to land the talented youngster?

An answer to both questions should emerge in the coming weeks and months.
