49ers Star Sparks Controversy With Trump Comment

A 49ers star sparked controversy with his Trump comment this week.

Niners cornerback Richard Sherman has never been one to bite his tongue.

When the 31-year-old wants to say something, he says it. No ands, ifs or ors about it.

That is precisely what ended up happening this week.

While doing media for San Francisco’s looming Super Bowl showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs, Sherman was asked if he would visit the White House in the event of a win.

Typically, the champions of all major American sports are invited to the White House to schmooze with the President of the United States.

“I haven’t thought about it,” he told the San Francisco Chronicle.

“We’ve got a long way between now and then, but I doubt it.”

Sherman’s comments immediately sparked controversy on social media, as they indicate strongly that he is not a fan of President Trump.

If the Niners ultimately won the title and opted to boycott the White House, they would not be the first organization to do so.

The Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia Eagles also refused to meet with the President following their recent championship victories.

It remains to be seen if Kansas City would visit the White House if the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV.
